SOUTH AUCKLAND’S THIRD WIN. HAWKE’S BAY SOUNDLY BEATEN. VICTORY BY 35 POINTS TO 3. iYesterday afternoon, at Steele Park, the South Auckland League football representatives scored their third suci 0 ccssive win of the season, when they m accounted for the touring Hawke’s Bay n, thirteen by 35 points to 3. The conditions for football were ideal, the playing area being in surprisingly good order after the amount of rain that had 1- fallen recently. South Auckland were n superior to the visitors in all deparlie meats of play. In the first half they i- had much the greater measure of a tile tack. In the second spell the visiting Is forwards improved, and the side as a i- whole attacked frequently. In the closet ing stages, however, South Auckland i- pressed hotly on several occasions and id opened up the play with determined h and successful results. After a period ■ of midfield play, pursuing a long kick 1 by Fulford, Kennerley made a dash 1 from the eastern 25, but a sure tackle . stopped him. The defenders heeled - from an ensuing scrum, and eventually a kick removed the danger. Play swung swiftly to the visitors’ 25, where from a free-kick Dufty again made the most of the opportunity. After a spell of play swinging between Ihe 25’s. with Mitchell fielding and kicking surely, Ihe visitors went again to ihe attack, nff-side play by the home forwards further improved the situation for the visitors, but Wilson-Hall turned (ho tide and a hot sally, in which McMillan, Wilson and Stewart participated, finished down at the eastern 25. The home hacks got on the move west, and the effort culminated with Paki dashing across at the north-west corner. Dufly missed the goal. The, latter punted across Ihe line and Mitchell was in a dangerous predicament, but the effort finished in Ihe dead-hall area. Play was up and down field at Ibis stage. After Dufly had saved at Ills goal front, Kennerley had shortly to rescue his side from a similar situation. WilsonHall fed out smartly from the scrum, hul iStewarl spoiled the advance.
