KAISER’S FINANCE

THE UNCOUTH KAISER. NO THANKS FOR SERVICES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received August 2, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, August 1. Herr Heinig’s book relating to the cx-Kaiscr’s finances points out that, in addition to money, large quantities of plate were sent to Doom, including a thousand silver plates, with knives and forks and spoons to match, 360 gilded plates, a collection of enormous epergnes, a case of communion plate, and also a silver font, the gift from the Queen of England. The book shows that the Spartacists’ damage to the palaces during the revolution was negligible. Although the revolutionaries requisitioned horses from the Royal stables, with which lo pull field guns, they punctiliously returned the same. Huge quantities of food, wine and cognac remained untouched throughout the revolutionary occupation of the Royal residence. The author points out that not a single palace official, many of whom served the court for a lifetime, received a word of acknowledgment or thanks from the ex-Kaiser.
