NGARUAWAHIA'S NEEDS
SIDING TO RIVER. LIGHTING FOR RAILWAY STATION. A deputation from the Ngaruawahia Chamber of Commerce waited on the Minister of Public Works, lion. .1. G. Coates, at Ngaruawahia yesterday, with a request Ibat he bring before the Minister of Railways Ihe necessity for constructing a railway siding from the main line In Ihe river. The urgency and necessity for the work was stressed by .Mr A. Morris, who pointed out, that by means of a siding and wharf the whole of the Waipa Valley could be feit with supplies from Ngaruawahia, which was the nearest point for the settlers also to deliver their produce for railing. They had had an offer from a resident of Hie district to supervise the laying of lite line if the Government would find the material. Another matter brought to the Minister's notice was the ill-lighting of the railway station. Mr Clavis mentioned that the town had a splendid electrical system, but the only public institution in the town that did not use the light was the railway station, which was very poorly lighted. The Minister promised to bring the matters under the notice of the Minister of Railways.
