ARTERIAL ROADS
OUTLINE OF NEW BILL. ROADS A NATIONAL CHARGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Minister of Public Works has given an outline of the Arterial Roads Bill that is to be placed before Parliament during the coming session. The Bill will propose that arterial roads bo a national charge. They will be constructed and maintained by an x\rtcrial Roads Board, and wil be supported by special taxation on motor vehicles and tyres. The first roads to be declared main arterial highways will be: In the North Island, the road from Kaitaia to Wellington, via Auckland, Hamilton, Tc Kuiti, Waitara and Wanganui, and- the road from Wellington to Gisborne; in the South Island, the road from Blenheim to Bluff, and a road from Blenheim, via Nelson, to Hokitika.
