KIRKWOOD IN GOOD FORM. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received May 22, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 20. Kirkwood attracted an increased crowd of spectators in the second round. He made the out journey In 38 (three fives, five tours, and one three), and came home in 34 (seven fours and two threes). His play in every department was almost monotonously faultless, except at the 16th hole when a 250 yards drive found the bunker. Having a four-foot putt he was unlucky atj,he 18th green, lipping the hole. J. H. KIRKWOOD RUNNER-UP. MITCHELL THE WINNER. LONDON, May 20. J. H. Kirkwood, the Australasian golf champion, went the third round of the qualifying competition at the Oxley links in 72, and the final in 78. The tourpament resulted: Mitchell 293, (wins cup and £130) ; Kirkwood 295 (wins £80), Massey 296, Herd, Leach, Havers, 299; Ray, Ockenden 301; Vardon, Taylor, 302; Braid, 304.
