COMPETITION GAMES. HOOWER A CENTURY. The local competitions were continued in line weather on Saturday. There was a good attendance. Much interest, was centred in the old BoysWarwick match, which practically settles the championship for the 1920 _ 21 season. During the afternoon Hooker (Y.M.C.A.) passed the century mark after a brilliant display. OLD BOYS V. WARWICK, Warwick won the Inss, and balled. •flic .lohnslon brothers opened, ami al, once began to score quickly. Old Boys were handicapped through Ihe absence of M. Gllmore, their fast bowler. When the score stood at 59 H. Johnston tipped one to Macgrcgor at first slip which was accepted. .V.)- —1 M Harnett Riled the breach, and quickly ran to double llgurcs when Lenihan took a brilliant one-handed catch in the slips off Macgrcgor. 70 2—lo. H. Johnston was not now scoring so fast, and, with Loughlin, was content to wait for the runs. With the score just under the century Macgrcgor scattered the latter's slumps. Cliffe signalised his appearance with a boundary, and a couple of balls later hit a six. Sneddon, bowling vice Lenihan, was keeping Johnston quiet, but Cliffe was pushing on quickly. These two carried the score to 135, when Johnston, who seemed to have, gone to pieces, slopped out to a slow one from Macgregor, and was neatly stumped by Speight. 135 —5 52. Johnston had pHiyi'd a line innings. Fox came in, and squnro-cjJt one to the boundary, which Hamlin should have caught, but shortly afler was bowled by a nice ball rrom Smith. Uufty joined Cliffe, and opened Ins account with a couple of fours. CMiT ■ had been scoring well, but when Intotal stood at 33 he skied one barn to Macgregor. Cunningham did no! survive long, being caught off a ball he should have left alone. 155 —7—(5. McQuillan) played his first ball on, and 11. Johnston went almost immediately after leg before. 175 —9 —U. Blnckie came to the crease, and he and Dufty treated the crowd to a display, which, if not orthodox, was spectacular. Both batsmen hit for the boundary every time, and were in most cases successful. Dufty occasionally punctuated his score with a six, but Blackie played more ground strokes. This partnership had put on 11 runs when Hamlin accepted a brilliant catch from Dufty off Macgrcgor. The outgoing batsman had made 59 in quick time. Blackie carried his bat with 31 to his credit. Macgregor bowled excellently throughout, and secured eight wickets. The light was very bad when Frascr and Snedden opened for Old Boys.
