CARNIVAL AT TAKAPUNA. HAMILTON TEAM'S SUCCESSES. McGregor wins great northern In the motor cycle sports, held under the auspices of the Auckland Motor Cycle Club, at Takapuna, on Saturday last, Hie team of six riders from the Hamilton Club proved very successful, gaining no fewer than two first, two second, and four third awards. The big race of the day, the Great Northern Handicap, was won by a Hamilton rider, M. C. McGregor, who covered the 15-mile course in 13min. 9sec. The only member of the Hamilton team who failed to secure a place, was S. Gordon, who was competing in the novice event, and was well ahead in the last lap, when his machine failed him. Saturday's performance was exceedingly creditable indeed, and places the Hamilton Club in the forefront of similar bodies in the Dominion. The events in which the local riders were successful were as follows :—• Takapuna Handicap.—A. T. Bell 1. S. Whitehead 2. Side-car Handicap.—T. J. Loughlin 3. Great Northern Handicap.—M. C. McGregor 1, S. Whitehead 3. Victory Handicap.—A. T. Bell 3. Consolation Handicap.—N. B. Souler 2, S. Whitehead 3.
