U.S. NAVAL PROGRAMME
MR HARDING FAVOURS BUILDING. DISARMAMENT PROPOSALS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received February 27, 5.5 p.m. WASHINGTON, March -20. Mr Harding has advised the Senate Republican leaders that he desires adequate appropriations for the navy. He favours continuing the present building programme without material reductions. Mr Harding has not indicated his position regarding Senator Borah's resolution on the subject of disarmament. Hie vote on which was blocked I his week. It Is expected that the resolution will die with the expiration of the session, but the Senate leaders are of the opinion that Mr Harding will favour a reduction of armaments if general agreement among the nations Is obtainable.
