We congratulate the lawn tennis en-
thusiasts of Hamilton Congratulations and district upon
to Hie successful culWalkato L.T.A. initiation of their eight years of effort to secure the establishment of a Walkalo Association. The struggle has been a long and strenuous one, and It is not easy to account for the opposition which has been met wiih. The local promoters have been animated solely by the sincere desire to further the interests of tennis a game which of late years has advanced immensely in public favour) throughout, the South Auckland area, ha.ving been persuaded that the best method of doing so would be by (he establishment of a local controlling body. The Provincial Association .however, evidently feared that this would detract somewhat from Its importance, and set itself to oppose the project. However, the New Zealand Association, by the emphatic vole of 31 to t2, has now granted the loca] Association affiliation, and with that accomplished there should be a bip forward movement in tennis circles throughout the district. We wish tile new body a long and useful career.
