GRASS SEED AND MANURE
SOLD BY J. JONES, AUCKLAND. A RECORD. A scene of great activity was witnessed on Friday morning last, at the aui.'Linn looms of Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, "on the corner," City Market, Auckland, when the previously advertised auction sale of manure and quality grass seed was held. By lu o'clock, tiie advertised time of starting, the buyers had assembled in such large numbers that the commodious premises, were fully taxed to hold them all. The bidding was brisk and animated, the auction not finishing until late in the afternoon. That those present were buyers in the real sense of the word was proved by the fact that-a total of 1500 bags of superphosphate and about 150 tons of oilier manures, and over 3000 sacks of grass seed were submitted and e'agerly bought at exceptionally good prices.
The grass seed sold represented all varieties' used on Ihe farm. The buyers, at the close, many of whom had travelled from distant parts of the province to reach* the sale, expressed great satisfaction with the quality of the manures and grass seed offered, i! liein.s' fully up to, and in fact, greatly exceeding the auctioneer's previously advertised guarantee. The sale easily constitutes a record for Die Dominion, and results on such a scale as the above quoted figures were never for a moment contemplated 'by the auctioneer. The whole of this enormous quantity of seeds and manures was quitted in a surprisingly prompt manner, ami buyers expressed themselves as more than pleased with the brisk and businesslike conduet of the sale. Mr Jones tells us that he is prepared to quote for these lines at any time, and users are advised to write him statins their requirements before placing their orders elsewhere.
Satisfaction is assured in every case, as he can vouch for die excellent quality of all seeds offered.*
