MOTOR CYCLE SPORTS
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Hamilton Motor Cycle Club's race meeting is being held on the Claudelands course this afternoon, in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. There are eight, races, which have drawn r> i riders. The meeting to-day j- nearly twice as large as last year's event, competitors being presenl from all parts of Hie Dominion. A feature of the, proceedings was the exhibition of fancy (lying given b} Capt. t'pham, D.F.C. The following were the officials: — .lodges: Messrs J. Trcloar, A. W. Smith; starter, Mr ,1. Loughlin; assistant starter, Mr W. A. Jordan; handicappcr, Mr W. Bensemann; assistant handicapper, Mr Jno. McKinnon; lap scoring board, Mr F. Yickcry and assistants; time-keepe\rs, Messrs S. Darker, S. McDonald, W. Blyth; hon. surgeon, Dr. Pinfold; call stewards, Messrs A. H. Wilde, P. W. Maddock: protest committee, Messrs F. Peace, 11. C. Ross, B. Peace; hon. secretary, Mr P. J. Williams; assistant secretary, Mr ,f. L. Moyes.
Following are the results to hand: — Novice Handicap (five laps).—J. Blackmore .7 h.p. Big X) scr., 1; G. A. Maxwell (7 h.p. Big X) ssec, 2; S. Gordon (7 h.p. Indian) osec.. 3. Won by six lengths, with four between second and third. Ten started. Time 7.50.
Claudelands Handicap, Open (10 laps).—A. T. Bell (7 h.p Harley Davidson) 1255c0., 1; \V. C. Goodwin (2| h.p, Douglas) ISO sec. 2: .1. Sweeney :>* h.p. Indian) 95 sec, 3. Won easily by three-quarters of a lap. Time 11.5-4 3-5. The scratch man, L. Mangham (7 h.p. Harley Davidson) put up the fastest time, 10.22. Members' Handicap (five laps).— W. C. Goodwin (2| h.p.
