Representative Brooks Gliinms , in- ] (reduced an amendment to the Naval j Appropriation Bill, providing that Mr Harding must call a disarmament conference before any funds are available for tlic continuance of Hie United Stales 101(5 naval building programme. The amendment was defeated and the entire measure passed, providing funds to carry out the 101(5 building j programme, which, when completed, will make the United Stales Navy larger than Britain’s. The measure, however, reduces the enlisted murine personnel from 170,000 to 120,000.
