AUSTRALIAN MINERS
A NEW AWARD MADE. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, February 5. Judge nibble has issued a new award for employees in coalmines throughout the Commonwealth. The hi ull day wage of employees is 16s ('id and provision is made for a 174 per cent increase on the rates prior to September to pick miners, machinemen ami others. The further claims of the miners for a six-hour day, a five-day week, etc., have not yet been considered. The award will have little effect on the prevailing rates.
