AUSTRALIAN ITEMS. SYDNEY, February 4. The military authorities have issued an order, prohibiting smoking by senior cadets, whilst under military supervision. MELBOURNE, February 4. Mr Athlcc A. Hunt, C.M.G., Secretary for the Home Territories Department, has received appointment as arbitrator in the Public Service, in terms of the new Act at a salary of £2OOO. BRISBANE, February 4. Mr Theodore, commenting on Mr Con Wallace’s resignation, states that the latter knew the salary before accepting the position. The, salary was increased by £25, but he was told that there would be no further increase.
