Mr Alexander Maopherson, organising officer of the Department of Agriculture's exhibits, is at present at the Ruakura State Farm of Instruction. It is announced that Mr J. 11. G. Bond, present manager of the Union Steamship Co. at Auckland, has been appointed Dominion superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Co., in succession to the late Mr C. B. Bullock. Sir Raymond Dennis, of Birmingham, England, arrived in Hamilton by the express from Rotorua to-day. After inspecting the damaged fire engine, he will proceed to 'Wellington by the afternoon express.
A pleasing ceremony took place in the Korornatua School on February i, the opening day, when the schoolchildren presented their teacher, Miss Clarke, with a leather lunch hag and silver-topped smelling salts bottle. It was a kindly tribute to the popularity of Miss Clarke and the esteem in which she is held by the scholars.
The death took place at Foxlon, after a short illness, of an old and respected settler, in the person of Mr James Henry Robinson, aged 63 years. He was the second son of the late Captain Francis Robinson, a pioneer of the Manawatu district. He leaves a widow, the daughter of the late Captain Armstrong, of Akaroa, and a family of six children.
