MORRINSVILLE LODGE. The installation of officers of the Star of Piako Lodge of Druids, Morrinsville, No. 85, was largely attended. The District President, Bro. T. J. Ladd, Hamilton, impressively invested the ofllccrs-elect with the collars of their oilice. Those installed were as follows; —Past Arch Druid, Bro. 11. A. Douglas; Arch Druid, Bro. L. Harvey; Vico-arch, Bro. V. 11. K. Perkins; Arch Druid Bards, Bros. Bridge and Scion; Vice-arch Bards, Bros. MceLud and Reid; secretary, Bro. VV. B. S. Lindsey; treasurer, Bro. G. sicolt. At supper, which followed, Bro. S. Hawkins, Past District President, in replying to the toast of the "Grand Lodge,” emphasised the need for loyalty to the Grand Lodge officers. He pointed out the trying experience that they had had in placing Hie Order on a sound financial footing, and spoke enthusiastically of the bright prospects of the Society.
The District President detailed (ho negotiations which led to the adoption of consolidation of Hie Dialer. A number of strong lodges were bitterly opposed to allowing I heir funds to be added to one consolidated fund, and one wealthy lodge bad gone so far as to issue a writ against Hie Grand Lodge. But now the scheme had been registered, and now every lodge was on a sound tlnancial fooling so far us sick and funeral funds and other obligations were concerned. The accumulated funds of tile Grand Lodge of the North Island exceeded £300,U00, and it was proposed to invest this sum on a far more satisfactory basis Hum that on which the Grand-Lodge funds used to be invested, tl was proposed to lend money to members of the Order for the erection of dwellings, and to establish a wcll-conduclcd Druidic paper.
