SPIRITUALIST IN TROUBLE
A woman who claimed that, she hau a gift from the Almighty and who disposed of her "knowledge" to girls for 6d a time, was before the Gateshead magistrates charged with fortune telling. She was Elizabeth Morne, aged 45, and she declared . that she was a spiritualist, not a fortune teller. "It is a gift from the Almighty. II you go to a solicitor he charges you Cs 8d for advice, but I give it you cheaper than that,'-' she said. She further declared that .by her foresight she knew the girls who would consult her. She had been forewarned. The Chairman: Were you forewarned of your appearance here today?—Yes; I knew I was coming here. The Chairman: Then do you know what the result will be? With hesitation the woman replied: "Well, I suppose I shall have to pay something." (Laughter.) - The Chairman: Wrong. You will suffer one month's- imprisonment.
