DISPUTE STILL UNSETTLED. COMPANIES' OFFER EXPLAINED. SUBSTANTIAL RISES TO WORKERS By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. No further progress, has been made in the settling of the Labour dispute n the freezing industry. A representative of the companies stated yesterday that the companies' offer of 20 per cent increase on piece rates and 32A per cent on time rates had not been favourably entertained by the men. With the addition of the bonus offered, the award rates would Le increased as follows: For piecework, slaughtering sheep, per 100, from £i las to £2 2s; lambs, £1 12s 6d to £1 IPs; cattle, from 2s 3d each to 2s 8.4 d; skinpullcrs, G s IOJd per 100 to 8s 3d. The lowest paid timework rale under the award is Is 9d per hour, and this, with the bonus, would be increased to 2s 1.T25d, making 17s I.Bd per day of eight hours. The bonus applies to all overtime work.
