BOY'S TRAGIC END
DEATH RATHER THAN EXAM. ■-? "I hope the verdict won't be 'Suicide while temporarily insane,' for so long as last January I determined to kill myself at the end of the summer holidays if I had not left school by then." This note, scribbled on the back ot an examination paper, was left by Frank Barlow, 15, a Manchester grammar schoolboy, who poisoned himself with prussic acid at his parents' home in Charles Street, Chorlton-on-Med-loek. Mr Barlow said his son seejned to dislike going to school, and dreaded «n examination which was to have, taken pliacc in ii months. Mr Kors-ley, the boy's form master, said 3ailov \v;is a" most satisfactory student, and would very likely have gained honours at the university. His time was spent at the reference library—nevoc nt school games. A verdict of "Suicide while ternpororily insane" was returned.
