The students' debate on the question, '•Shall Japan fighl America?" was marked by vehement oratory, but no disturbance. The organisers agreed to a police request not to take a vote on the merits of the question, but apparently the audience was equally divided. The debaters agreed that California's anti-Japanese furnished sufficient cause for hostilities, fcut differed concerning The expediency of war, many pointing out Japan's weakness compared with America's, wealth and preparedness.
