The deceased had been in indifferent, health for some time past. She was of a kindly disposition. She is survived by her husband, a daughter 'Mrs K. Kerr) and a son, for whom much sympathy is felt. A KITCHEN EVENING. Mrs W. Burrow gave a delightful kitchen evening last. Wednesday in honour of Miss Alice Mann, who has lately arrived from England to be married to Mr Then. Mitchell. The beautiful rooms were garlanded with Wistaria and Anemones, and here dancing, billiards, and music kept the happy gathering busy until home time. A delicious supper was served, and then the guest of the evening was called upon to open the numerous parcels, which contained nearly all the domestic treasures so dear to the heart Of Ihe housewife.

Wyndham Hopkins entertained fl number of friends on Monday afternoon in honour of Mrs (Dr.) Reese, who leaves shortly for England. The rooms were prettily decorated with azalea, lilac, and ixias, and were early peopled by an animated gathering keenly interested in a most, amusing competition, which was finally won hy Mrs Gillies, and Mrs Since came in for second honours. Ten was delicious and thoroughly appreciated, as indeed was the whole entertainment. Mrs Hopkins received tier guests in a gown of lavender crepe i|e chine, with touches Of gold. OLD BOYS' DANCE. Last, Tuesday night the Old Buys" Football and Crirkcl Clubs combined held Hi.' last of their series of fortnightly dances in St. Peter's Hall. There was a very jolly crowd and as the music was first rate and the floor in good condition, needless to say everyone enjoyed themselves. All'through the winter months the Club has held Ihese danres and no doubt everyone is sorry that they have come to an end. Much credit is due to the Committee for the exccllcnl manner in which these dances have been carried on so successfully. Probably they will be organising summer dances to lake their place. KITCHEN EVENING. A kitchen evening, organise.! by Mi-s Peace, was tendered on Tuesday'evening to Miss Freda Hammond, who is shortly to be married. The gathering, whlcii was held in St. Andrew's Hall, Claudelands, was largely attended by friends of the guest, and a most, enjoyable and jolly evening was spent. The programme comprised games an I competitions of various kinds, interspersed by musical items, to which Miss Gladys Major ;md Messrs Adainson an i Bailey contributed. After a delicious supper had been partaken of Mr Geo. Poyes was deputed to unpack the gifts, which he did to the accompaniment or many homely and humorous comments, end at. the conclusion of the operation lie requested Miss Hammond to accept a large and comprehensive array of useful and valu/.bl- goods, with the be--L wishes of the ".ono.-r, for a long, happy and prosperous married life. Mr Paseoe suitably replied on behalf of the recipient, and the gathering was brought to a termination with a round of hearty cheers for the prospective biid.' and bridegroom, and an extra one for Miss Pen.-e as Hip organiser of what proved a most happy function.

GEORGE'S CLUB TENNIS DANCE. Despite the incl'in nt weather quite a large number assembled al S. George's Hall, Frank ton on Wednesday uitrht when the Club he'd a nice little dance. Everyone was in good spirils and the young folks thoroughly enjo\-, od themselves. "AT HOME" AT TE AWAMUTU. A large number of guests were entertained by Mr and Mrs 11. Y. Collins at an "al home" in (lie To Awamutu . Town Hall, and one and all speni a . thoroughly enjoyable evening. WEDDING. POWELL— LEE. A very quid hut charming wrddinK was solemnised by Rev. Mr Heard in tln> Presbyterian Church, Mangaweka, mi dill October, when .Miss Alice Lee, of Mercer, was married tn Mr Keith Powell, nf South Varra, Victoria, Australia. The hride, who was given away by her brother, was attired in a navy blue tailored costume, and wore » onMty saxe blue silk hat. She eairied a bouquet of arum lillies and heather. She was unattended by bridesmaids, her sister-in-law, Mrs Lee, acted as matron of hour. Mr Lee, brother of the bride, acted as best The church was very prettily decorated with white (lowers and the happy couple left the church amid showers of confetti for the residence of Mr Lee, where dainty afternoon tea was served.
