An examination of 169 companies' balance-sheets, published in September, dealing with the iron, steel, coal, textile, breweries, paper-making, glass and porcelain industries shows that 78 paid increased dividends compared with 1918-19, 59 declared similar dividends. 13 decreased, and 19 paid no dividends.
