The Australian Press Association interviewed Sir Thos. Mackenzie, who, since the conference of Chambers of Commerce at Toronto, has visited Boston and Washington, and addressed the Chambers of Commerce in those cities. "The market generally is uncertain," he said. "1 will put before the people on my return to New Zealand whether it is better to develop a United States market for our primary products despite a possibly high tariff after Ihe American elections, or continue ihe development of Hie British market. I have been inquiring into the trade possibilities between New Zealand and the United States and Canada. I visited Ihe docks here and saw New Zealand meat discharged in excellent condition. »\iv lamb is much appreciated here, but the mutton is in poor demand. British wholesale lamb prices are now much higher than
in Ihe United Stales, lie found the reeling in the United Slates towards Britain far mor.. cordial than he anli cipated. lie strongly supported Lord Desborough's and Mr A. J. Ilobson's proposal for the establishment of an International Chamber of Commerce for the exchange and distribution of statistics and information concerning products and commerce. Such a Chamber would fill a long-standing need. Sir Thomas Mackenzie will leave for New Zealand on Wednesday.
