Mr McSweeney has completed a 01 days' hunger strike at Brixton, lie slays mostly in bed and has been carefully nursed and his bodily heal maintained b> hot water bottles. The prison authorities stale thai he may last another month. They declare that there is no evidence that he has taken nourishment, but outside medical opinion is sceptical, especially as his condition shows comparatively lil-tio wastage and his temperature is almost normal. Mr McSweeney drinks mu di water, also a saline mixture for th • purification of the blood. It is unofllcially suggested that tho relatives who visited him daily give him spirits, wines and fruit juice.
Twelve hunger striker? in Cork pri son have completed a fast of 63 days.
