PROVIDING FOR INCREASES. LIBERALISING THE LAW. ADJUSTMENT i>F INSURANCES. By Telegraph—Si ial to Times. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill, introduced by the Minister for Labour. Hon. Sir W. 11. Herries, was returned to the House of Representatives lliis afternoon, aflM 1 consideration by Ihe Labour Bill Committee. This Bill increases the maximum compensation to dependents of a worker in case of death from £f>ui) (n £7OO, increases the maximum weekly payment to an incapacitated worker from £2 10s to *::i las and liberalises the law in other respects. The Committee has inserted a new clause providing that the increases shall ied op.Tat.' until April next, in order that the insurance companies may have time |,i m;ike adjustments. It lias also increased from 50 to mi per cent the proportion nf wages that was to be [.aid lo an incapacitated worker. The Hill is now down for the second reading.
