Senator Thomas, a Democrat, in a * speech declared that the Democratic party would face defeat and dissolution if it adopted Mr AViison’s stand for the ratification of the Peace Treaty unchanged. Mr Hitchcock ridiculed Hie Republicans’ attempt to secure Ho adoption of Mr Knox’s peace resolution. He said that He Republicans were working against a wall since they know the resolution would be immediately vetoed.
