' Mr j. A. Young, M.P., returned to Hamilton from Auckland last night. Mr J. W. Hadlield, instructor in agriculture at the Technical College, Auckland, has been appointed to the ( experimental seed farm at Otago. ‘ Mr R. A. Laidlaw was to leave Auckland by Hie Maheno for Sydney to-day. j He intends visiting Britain and Ajnuricu ( before returning lo Auckland. Dr. Helen Bakewcll. who recently finished her medical course (M. 8., Ch.B.) at the Otago University, has been appointed resident bouse surgeon lo Hie Whangarei Public Hospital. Dr. T. MeKibhon, formerly A.TLM.S., New Zealand Forces, in London, has just returned to Hie Dominion after live years’ military service, ahd has taken over the position, of District Health Officer at, Dunedin. General Brumwell Booth, bead of the Salvation Army, who is a most interesting personality, is due lo arrive in Wellington, on Monday, June 7. He will j remain in Hie Dominion until June 25, when lie will leave by Hie Niagara. ' General Sir XV. R. Birdwood, the "Soul of Anzac,” as lie is called, will arrive at Wellington from Australia about May 31st. He will be accompanied by Lady Birdwood and their daughter. General Birdwood’s itinerary has not yet been drawn up. but lie is expected lo remain in New Zealand until about the middle nf July.
