Electoral. THE PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATE, THOMAS JOHNSON. TO THE ELECTORS OF HAMILTON, — At. [he request of a large and infliienlial number of electors of the Borough, I have decided to offer myself as a candidate at the forthcoming byelection. I have been a resident, of the district for over 13 years, during which period I have had considerable experience in serving [tie public. For six years Chairman Frank ton School Committee; President Waikato School Committees' Association; 2 years Frankton Drainage Board. I was elected a member of the Frauklon Town Board in .1910, and again in 1912. In 191.3 we were created a. Borough Council. During my term of three years (after which 1 did not seek re-eledlion) there was installed the Electric Lighting system, Which for some years, was a sound paying proposition. Miles of footpaths were formed and asphalted and a water supply inaugurated. If elected I will do my utmost to serve the whole of the borough to the best of my ability. My past experience of Borough affairs will assist me to attain this object. I am in favour of a full supply of Electricity for power and lighting on the most scientific and economical basis, also the numbering of Hie, houses and business premies in the whole of the borough. The Housing question should be taken in hand at once.. This is not an individual question and needs the support of the whole Council, to carry it to a successful issue. We can get the population if we can find some means of housing them. The noxious weeds arc a, menace and disgrace to our town, and should not be tolerated in such a progressive district. It is desirable that a by-law be passed regulating the speed of motor vehicles in the Borough, and this would iiave my support. If you honour me by electing me as one of your representatives I would do my best for the community as a whole. I am. Yours faitlifuly, 308 THOMAS JOHNSON. TO THE ELECTORS OF HAMILTON. A DIES AND GENTLEMEN— At the request of a* large number of Electors, I have decided to accept nomination at tlic forthcoming by-election. I realise that the Borough of Hamilton is entering upon one ot its most critical stages, so far as Borough administration is concerned, and to-day Hamilton stands in need of its most capable citizens, men elected not under the shelter of a ticket, but men who by their own individual and practical ability arc capable of furthering the progress of Hamilton along sound, sane and economical lines. Should you return me at the above election, my best endeavours will be utilised in furthering your interests along “progressive lines. 11. N. PILKINGTON, , Engineer, 301 Ward Street. TO THE ELECTORS OF- HAMILTON. At the earnest request of a large number of electors representative of nil parts of the borough I have decided to accept nomination in connection witn the coming by-clcclion.
