LIQUOR AT DARWIN
"KILL STONE DEAD" BEER. SOME REVELATIONS AT INQUIRY. (United Press Association. DARWIN, Jan. 14. The Commission is inquiring into the Government liquor monopoly. Mr Callan, Supervisor of Hotels in reply to questions, stated that the loss on the hotels was £I2OO to £BOO per year. Despite the profits made, the nric« of liquor was 50 to 90 per cent over the regular rates. Evidence given went to show that there was much discontent regarding the nualitv of the liquor, some beer being coiloqually known as "Kill Part of the hotel losses are attributed to discrepancies between the quantity forwarded and the quantity which eventually came into the possession of the hotels. Allegedly large quailit ties were stolen m route from the true us or at Darwin.
