In an interview with a Lyttelton Times reporter, a member of a Christcluirch tobacco importing - firm stated that a rise in price for all tobacccos was sure to come, but what the margin would lie i't was hard to say. Another authority on the retail side of tobacco trading straightaway gave the opinion that any possible increases would in large measure be due to the rate of exchange. For every pound sterling tenderer the return would be but 17s worth of goods.
