SWIMMING. (United Press Association.) SYDNEY, Jan. 11. The 100 yards swimming championship resulted; Ross 1, Kirkland 2, Beck 3. The race was won comfortably by two yards. Time 58 seconds. The half-mile swimming championship resulted: Ross 1, Longworlh 2, Christie 3. Won by sixty-live yards. Time 11.2 J 1-5. As in the previous events the American held the command throughout and won easily without being extended. So far he has never been called on in any races to show what lie is really capable of doing. MOTOR CYCLE RACING. WORLD’S RECORDS BROKEN. (By Telegraph. —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. The Motor Cycle Sports Club held a successful meeting on Takapuna racecourse on Saturday. The crowd was treated to some thrills by Coleman, 'the Palmerston North crack, who established a world’s record on the grass in the Great Northern Championship, covering a distance of 15 miles 150 yards in 13 minutes. Coleman, from a flying start, also broke the mile record on the grass, covering the distance in 40 3-sscc.
