Colonel Christie, N.Z.M.C., is in Hamilton at present. Mr and Mrs Rob Bond, of Wanganui, are at present in Hamilton, on their way to Rotorua. Rev. J. B. Brocklehurst, who was appointed Vicar of St. Matthew’s, Hastings in 1910, has resigned the charge owing to ill health. Hon. Edmund W. Parker, chairman, and Mr E. V. Reid, managing director of Messrs Dalgety and Co., Lr.r.Jon, who are at present in Australia, will visit New Zealand next month. Commander G. St. Martin has been appointed to act as Italian ConsularGeneral at Melbourne for Australia, New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. Mr B. Miller, chief clerk of the Marine Department, is at present actingsecretary, in place of Mr G. Allport, who retired from the position at the end of last year. Mr L. W. King (Frankton Junction), is one of the North Island delegates who will attend the annual conference of the Railway Officers’ Institute at Dunedin this week. Members of Domain Boards have been appointed as under; Tirau,.Mr E. W. Jordan, vice Mr B. O. Amoore, resigned; Waihou, Messrs W. Mackie and W. E. Smith, vice Mr J. B. Thomas, resigned, and Mr W. Norrell, deceased. Mr P. D. Thomson, B.Ar, chief secretary to the Prime Minister, was admitted to the Companionship of St, Michael and St. George by the New Year Honours. The decoration is one that has never previously been given to a secretary to any Minister, and it has been appreciated by his colleagues no less than by Mr Thomson himself. On Friday afternoon Mr Thomson was entertained by his fellow-secretaries and congratulated on having achieved the special distinction.
