SWIMMING
MEETING OF THE CENTRE. At a meeting of the South Auckland Centre N.Z.A.S.A., Mr Speight occupied the chair. Delegates from the newly-formed Old Boys’ Club wore welcomed. The secretary was directed to send a letter of thanks to Mr Fraser for his donation. The Hamilton Regatta Committee’s application to add swimming events on their programme was granted. . The secretary was directed, in view of the Dominion championship in Auckland on February 14lh, to write to all club secretaries and ask them to hold trial races, and forward the times to the centre. ' It was resolved that all clubs must notify in writing other clubs at least 14 days before the final date of closing of entries of any provincial championships. ' It was decided to hold a South Auckland Centre carnival on January hist to raise funds to send swimmers to compete at the Dominion championships. It was also decided to invite a team of ladies and gentlemen swimmers from Auckland to compete at the carnival. The members of the committee were asked to try and obtain trophies for the various events, so as to make the carnival a financial success. Applications from Cambridge and Old Boys’ clubs to hold carnivals were granted. The following gentlemen have kindly donated trophies:—Messrs .1. Varney, C. Speight, S. L. Dickey, R. Webb, L. W. Brown, A. M. Wright, and Hamilton taxi drivers.
