PROPOSED NATIONAL AGREEMENT. REGARDED AS IMPRACTICABLE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. At a conference with the officials of the Tramway Federation yesterday, the. Mayor of Wellington stated that he did not see that any good would follow another Dominion conference. At the last conference, which was abortive, the controlling authorities held that a national agreement was impracticable, owing to the widely different conditions obtaining in each centre. An increase in the rates paid to the tramwaymen, Wellington, by Id per hour, will be made as from Ist January, in accordance with the recent announcement by the Arbitration Court.
