MARINE ENGINEERS’ STRIKE

The latest phase of the Marine Engineers’trouble is that the' executive has asked the shipping companies to eonfei with a view to an early settlement. The Shipping Controller has agreed, provi - ing the conference is held in Melbourne. ~~Tater. EASTERN CREW JOINS STRIKERS. (United Press Association.) Received January 8, 9.45 a.ra. SYDNEY, Jan. 8. The engineers of the steamer Eastern, due to sail for Hongkong, have joined the strikers.
