The Matin slates that the protocol will be signed on Saturday afternoon, together with a statement dealing with reparation and the soultllngs of the fleet at Soapa Flow. Diplomatic relations between Germany and the Allies will bo resumed after the exchange of the ratifications.
COMPENSATIONS FOR ITALY. (Austsalian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received January 7, 7.35 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 6. Mr Lloyd George met Signor Nitti at Charing Cross to-day. They will discuss the Fiume incident and Italy s financial situation, the possible mandate over Constantinople, and compensating Italy in Africa for German colonies going to Britain and France. The compensation will probably take the form of extension in Libya and Ita,:an Somaliland. REPARATION FOR SCAPA SINKINGS. ALLIED TERMS MODIFIED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received January 7, 7.35 p.m. PARIS, Jan. 5. The Supreme Council has decided that Germany need hand over only 275,000 tons of harbour material instead of 300,000 in reparation for the Scapa ecuttlings.
