MARINE ENGINEERS' STRIKE
ALL INTER-ST.VTE VESSELS IDLE. (United Press Association.) Received January 7. 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 7. As a result of the marine engineers' strike, all the inter-State shipping traffic is at a standstill, 5000 being unemployed and 80,000 tons of shipping idle. The Sydney wharf labourers have asked the Federal Government for a sustenance allowance while the strike continues. MELBOURNE, Jan. 7. The marine stewards and pantrymen have decided to support the decision of the Sydney branch.
