CAUSE OF THE LABOUR DEFEAT. DUE TO NEW VOTING SYSTEM. OPPOSITION TO COALITION. (United Press Association.) (Received Jan G, 8.40 p.m.) BRISBANE, Jan. 6. Mr Ryan declared that the new voting system was one of the causes of the Labour defeat at the elections, but he added that on the whole the party had Improved its position since 1917. He was strongly opposed to the suggested coalition with the Farmers' party. SECTARIANISM AND APATHY. (United Press Association.) (Received Jan. 6, 10.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 6. Mr Frank Gwynne Tudor, in returning thanks for his election, attributed the Labour defeat to sectarianism and apathy resulting in the profiteers' victory. Received Jan. 7, 10.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, Jan. 7. The Senate count for South (Australia has been completed. It resulted in the return of three Nationalists.
