THE WOOL CLIP.
PAST AND PRESENT SEASON. UP TO THE AVERAGE. (3y Telegraph.—Press Association.') AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The wool season in the Auckland province during the year just ended was a very satisfactory one; and promises are entertained ±or an equally successful j one this year. Although the season last j year was somewhat late, owing to the late spring, shortage of labour in some ■ parts of the country, and the delay caused through the serious influenza j epidemic, the wool came forward in j large quantities with practically no undue delay. The wool grown in the province was principally Romney Lincoln, j and although probably the best class of j wool per sheep, it did not bring such high prices per lb as the finer qualities Of wool grown in the South Island. The I quality of this season's clip was well up to recent season standard. There is still room for a great deal of improvement, however, in the "get-up" of the clip. In some cases where there are clips of wool above the average standard it is most disappointing to brokers and valuers to find the owners have not taken any care to skirt the wool, but have put all the bellies and pieces with the fleece. Judging from the very small number of complaints from growers, it is apparent that the valuers are giving general satisfaction. The only exception has been in connection with seedy wool, a number of growers having been disappointed with the value placed on this class of wool.
According to a reliable authority, "us year's clip is a good one—about (lie average for the Auckland province. It is in good condition, and quite a lot of it is better than last year's clip.
