An inquest on the tid» babies drowned in a London park lake was held recently. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned, and the jury recommended that the lake should be fenced round. The children wero in charge of a fifteen-year-old nursegiri, Gladys Danks, who, with much emotion, told how the accident happened. She was seated by a footpath running round the edge of the lake, and, to •»66the the infants, was pushing the perambulator to and fro, when she lost her hold of the handle. . The perambulator ran over the footpath and down the aide of the lake into the water, where it overturned. Not knowing the depth of the water —it was only just over two feet—the girl look fright and ran for a park man. When the latter got the babies out both were dead. A sad feature of the occurrence was that a woman who witnessed the accident was unable to give assistance, her hands having no power in them.
