Lord Inchiquin's brother, Mr Edward O'Brien, with Lady Beatrice O'Brien, and three friends, were shooting wood cock in Lord Inchiquin's grounds, when suddenly 20 Sinn Feiners behind a wall opened fire on the parly with revolvers and sporting guns. A desperate flghl followed, C'Brien's parly retreating to their motors .and firing continually until the 20 attackers were, put to flight.

Lady Beatrice had three gunshot wounds in her head and neck, and all the other sportsmen were more or less seriously wounded. The Sinn Fe'iners carried off their own wounded, wliose number is unknown.
