Mr Harold Beauchamp, chairman °t the Bank of New Zealand, is returning to New Zealand via Sydney m«the Ormonde, due in Christmas week. Mr Leo de Chateau, representing aJ. Carroll, was in Hamilton yesterday, arranging for the early production at the Theatre Royal of the two popular pictures, "Woman," and "The Sentimental Bloke." Dr. Truby King, the New Zealand specialist-'in infancy and maternity questions, arrived at Perth by the Morea on November 21, and after addressing a child welfare conference, resumed his voyage the following day. The manv friends of Mr Tancred A. Cooper, one of the founders of the firm of Messrs Cooper and Sorby, Hamilton, and later organiser of the Farmers Union, will be pleased to learn that he has recovered from his recent indisposition. Lieut J. D. Cooney, M.M., son of Mr and Mrs J. Cooney, of Knox Street, Hamilton, returned from active service yesterday. Lieut. Cooney went to Samoa with the first batch, and subsequently joined the Australian I'orce, with which he served* throughout the war.

Mr D. St George, chief postmaster at Invercargih (retired;, is being replaced by the promotion of Mr K. W. Porter, inspecting auditor, General Post Office. Mr J. J. Pickett, chief postmaster at Timaru (retired) is being replaced by the promotion ot Mr P. J. Chisholm, senior inspector tor the North Island.

Rev Jasper Calder has resigned his position as curate of St. Matthew'sChurch, Auckland. He has accepted.au offer from the Chautauqua Association to tour America a£ a lecturer for. six months, and he will leave Auckland in \pril next, accompanied by Mrs Calder. At present Rev. A M. Nfblock is actingvicar of St. Matthew's, pending the arrival of Rev. H. Grant Cowen, the new vicar, about February noxt.
