HIGH COST OF LIVING
JAPANESE LABOUR PROTESTS. PUBLIC MARKETS ESTABLISHED. LOANS FOR HOUSE BUILDING. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received Dec. 9, 8.40 a.m.) TOKIO, December 6. The Japanese Labour Party are, protesting against the high cost of living, and have started a movement to secure a reorganisation of the Cabinet. The Prime Minister, Mr. Hara, called an official conference at which it was decided that a public market should be established in each city of 50,000 inhabitants, and loans should be advanced at a low interest to those who wish to build homes. It also suggested that the tariffs on imported food should be removed.
