The Royal Commission on awards to inventors has reported regarding various claims in respect to the tanks, lie report records that it was P™"""* due to the receptibility, courage an living force of Mr Winston. Churchill that a general idea was put into piactice The report attributes the principal credit of the designing and production of the tanks to Sir Wm.lr.tton and Major Wilson, to ™ hom *^' o ™ has been jointly awarded, and MajorGeneral Swinton haS been awarded £IOOO The report recognises the sua neater value of his work in the advocacy of the use of tanks, for which a pecuniary award would be inappropriate Another claimant was awarded £IOOO and two others £SOO each Some of the claimants were disqualified because the investigations were within the scope of theiTduties.
