Mr S. Upton, of tho Brett Publishing Co., Auckland, is visiting Hamilton. Mr B. C. Robins of Tauranga, has definitely announced that he will oppose the Hon. W. H. Herries for the lauranga seat at tho election, to be held in December.
His Lordship Bishop Averill will leave Auckland to-day on his final visit to tho Waikato prior to his trip to England to attend the Lambeth Conference. On Sunday he will preach at Huntly and Ngaruawahia, and on Monday at Karaimi (afternoon) and Hamilton (evening, confirmation service). The remains of the late Mr Robert Willamson, who was a very old resident of the Waikato, being a member of the r>7th Middlesex Foot Regiment, the "Diehards," were laid to rest at the Hamilton East Cemetery yesterday afternoon; It was a military" funeral, the coffin being, borne on a' six-horse gun carriage of the R.N.Z.A. Sergeant Beattie, of the R.N.Z.A., was in command of .the firinic party, which was supplied by the High School Cadets. Sorgeant-IVlaj'or Purdom represented the Defence staff, and Messrs P. W. Mnddock and N. A. Ching frhe Returned Soldiers' Association, ■ members of which organisation acted as pallbearers. Yen. Archdeacon Cowie conducted the funeral services.
