After communication with the Board of Trade, the Grain Merchants’ Association decided to advance the price of cornsacks from Is 7d to 2s each. The Board, which last' season fixed the price at Is 7d, stated in reply to the Association that it intended that the price should be controlled in the same manner as was done last season, but agreed that sales ex November and December shipments should in the meantime be quoted at current rates, whilst cornsacks for immediate delivery should be invoiced at 2s ex ship or store, subject to adjustment m both cases when a definite price is fixed by the Board. In accordance with this decision all invoices will be stamped with the conditions stated, and the farmer will therefore pay 2s ex store or ship from present stocks, and possibly slightly more, for supplies from the November-December .shipments. Later he may be required to pay an additional sura on his purchase, or may receive a refund according to the Board of Trade’s decision, which depends largely on the ruling rate of conversion of the rupee. If a decline in the rupee should ’occur cornsacks will become cheaper. At present rates merchants state they could not land cornsacks and sell them with profit at 2s. Economical housekeepers are now preparing to put down their supplies of preserved eggs. There is no preservative like SHARLAND’S “MOA” BRAND EGG PRESERVER. Just try It. (2)
