THE TEXAS HURRICANE
TOWNS DEMOLISHED. BRITISH STEAMER FOUNDERS. * A HEAVY| DEATH ROLL. PROBABLY REACH 1000. (Reuter’s Telegrams.) Received Sept. 18, 12.10 a.m. . NEW YORK. Sept. 16. Seventy bodies of victims 'of the Texas hurricane have been recovered. The Texas floods disaster is growing and the loss of life will probably total 1000. So far 200 bodies have been recovered. Several small towns were, demolished and 500 persons are believed to have been drowned at Robstown. The British steamer Bayronton foundered. A portion' of her crew were rescued. Three thousand are homeless in the town of Corpus Ghristi, which is under martial law. Received Sept. 18, 12.50 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 17. The total loss of life in Texas ■through hurricane was 250. Scores of bodies washed ashore were mutilated.
