THE RABBIT NUISANCE

THE LAW’S DELAYS. AN AMENDMENT SOUGHT. (United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Members of the Banks Peninsula Rabbit Board waited upon the Minister of Agriculture this morning and asked that the,Rabbit Nuisance Act should be amended so that so much time would not be lost in putting its provisions into operation. The deputation also asked that a portion of the fines imposed should be given to the rabbit boards instead of the total amount being paid into the Consolidated Fund. Hon. W. Nosworthy promised to get an opinion from the Crown Law Office in regard to the powers of the boards. Although rabbits were returning very good profits to some people, that could not be allowed to interfere with the drastic steps necessary for their eradication.
