ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE
A WAN6ANUI INCIDENT,
The vicinity of St.. John's Club in Glasgow street was the scene of a daring case of highway robbery accompanied with violence shortly before 8 on a recent evening, the victim being a lady who is engaged in business in Guyton street (reports the Chronicle). It is the lady's custom to carry home each evening the day's taking in a handbag, and evidently this fact the Ihief was aware of. As is her usml (•■ustorn she turned into Glasgow streat from the Avenue, but had not gone far when a man seized her forcibly, wrenched the 'bag out of her grasp and made off. The lady was too upset to give any alarm, but siie proceeded to i; iiouse in the vicinity and related what had occurred.
A small amount of money was in the hag, but it so happened that on this particular occasion she did not h.l/e the day's takings with her. Visually the vicinity of the robbery \u fairly well lighted, bul owing to tin' ronl shortage, Glasgow street and other suburban streets are now in complete darkness at night.
