MOTOR ACCIDENT

THE DRIVER EXONERATED. WARNING TO PEDESTRIANS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) CHRISCHURCH. Friday. The adjourned inquest on the body of Thomas Keighley, who died from injuries, the result of being knocked down on April 21 by a motor car, driven by M. Edwards; was resumed this morning. The Coroner returned the following verdict:—"Death was due to injuries sustained through being run over by a motor car, but there is no evidence of negligent driving." He added a rider: 'Now that_ fast traction has been sanctioned over the highways, there 13 cast on those using the same a higher standard of care than nreviously existed: Pedestrians should keep to the footpaths as much as possible, and should keep looking out for possible danger." The rider was added not to induce carelessness or recklessness on the part of motorists, but to induce all to exercise care.
